One of the most useful tools I use for planning my harvest is my weekly compass. I am sharing it with you for the essence of the law, not the letter of the law. In other words, it is not to judge who I am, but how I stay true to who I am. This is how I live my dreams, and course correct as necessary.
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
I begin with my highest values, that which is most important to me, and everything else falls where it may, or not at all. One bit of wisdom that I remind myself of often is that saying no is saying yes to something else. I never want what is most important to be at the mercy of what is less important to me. And often that means telling others no or choosing between two goods. I can ask myself which will serve me and my garden best and the choice is usually obvious, not necessarily easy.
