“Gardens are an autobiography.” -Sydney Eddison
Kill the tv and pick up a book. It is fun, healthy, and you may learn something too. Because there are so many good books, there’s no time to waste on a bad one. This is a dynamic list of what I consider to be the “best of” for conscious parents looking to keep the tools sharp.
♣ I always appreciate a good book recommendation. Please share yours with the tribe.
Children of Promise is a new paradigm of health, a life free of fear causing dis-ease. Dr. Olson’s definition of health requires balance in all areas of life. Healthy habits make perfect SENSE. One of the most profoundly simple books of holistic success ever written. It is a concise compilation of the best practices for raising healthy children. Many books emphasize parts and pieces; this one wraps theory and practice together and offers practical application for a life of health and happiness.
The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents – one of my best finds in 2010. Decided to start the new year with a refresher. This is for all conscious guides in a child’s spiritual development. The key to successful guiding is about who we are, not what we do. For a 2 hour investment in time, the author offers practical daily applications of the seven spiritual principles.
A Pebble for Your Pocket is a simply beautiful jewel. We are reading this book at bedtime as a family. The chapters are short stories to be read in any order. They remind us of the ordinary miracles all around us and the interconnectedness of life. This book is a gentle reminder to create moments of mindfulness in every day. The children enjoy the stories; the real gift is for the parents – the art of presence.
A Call to Conscious Parenting – In less than 2 hours, the author offers a new paradigm to start you on your journey and 10 steps towards conscious parenting. This book is not for half-hearted effort. She will challenge you and give “home”work. Well worth the investment; this book could be a first step in a new destiny for you and your children.
From the post, Maintain your Physique, I have put together a reading resource list according to the aspect of consciousness they emphasize. For the most benefit and momentum, begin with purpose. The first step to get what you want, is knowing what you want. If you have your purpose and are aware of your blocks, spend some time there. One thing to keep in mind: you don’t want to just concentrate on your biceps. Even if you are doing extra work in one area, continue awareness in all areas. All these books are available at Amazon.com and many at Audible.com.
